yesterday i found this more than 120 years old HERMAGIS petzval.
It's a aprox 420 mm 4.5 lens.
Just perfect for portraits. I will have to make some waterhouse stops for it, but that's a nice thing to do during the winter.
Hi Alex, would you be able to give a bit more detail about this lens? I bought something that looks very similar from an auction, although it was described as "landscape lens". It definitely has front and back lens groups as in petzval, both marked "Hermagis Paris". Serial is 17875, the length of the barrel is about 19 cm (7.5 in)and lens diameter 8 cm (3.1 in). Looking forward to using it as soon as my big enough camera arrives. Best, Janne
